A Petri Net-based Deadlock Control Policy for Flexible Assembly Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a Petri net-based method for deadlock control in flexible assembly systems (FAS). Instead of a process-oriented modeling method, a resource-oriented Petri net modeling method is used. A new control policy is thus formulated and proved to outperform the existing one in the literature. The deadlock problem in FAS is often more difficult since deadlock can arise from improper base component flow and part flow, as well as ill-synchronized assembly operations. Copyright© 2005 IFAC

Comparison of Two Deadlock Prevention Methods for Different-size Flexible Manufacturing Systems
The competition for limited resources can produce deadlocks in flexible manufacturing systems (FMS). Petri nets are an effective way to model, analyze, and control deadlocks in FMS. Our previous work proposes elementary siphons as an important concept in investigating the deadlock problems in Petri nets. This paper presents an elementary siphon-based deadlock prevention method. It then performs...
متن کاملA Petri Net Approach Based Elementary Siphons Supervisor for Flexible Manufacturing Systems
This paper presents an approach to constructing a class of an SPR net for modeling, simulation and control of processes occurring in the flexible manufacturing system (FMS) used based elementary siphons of a Petri net. Siphons are very important to the analysis and control of deadlocks of FMS that is significant objectives of siphons. Petri net models in the efficiency structure analysis, and u...
متن کاملDeadlock Control in Generalized Petri Nets
This chapter proposes a number of deadlock prevention polices for a class of generalized Petri nets, namely G-systems, which is usually considered to be the most generalized Petri nets that can model Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMSs) with machining, assembly, and disassembly operations. First, a deadlock prevention policy based on elementary siphons theory is presented, which indicates that...
متن کاملDistributed Maximally Permissive Nonblocking Control of Flexible Manufacturing Systems
In recent years, a great deal of research has been focused on preventing deadlock in Flexible Manufacturing Systems. Policies based largely on Petri net models have been presented in the literature. Recently, a quite different approach has been developed based on supervisory control theory, and it has been adapted to solve the nonblocking maximally permissive control problem in various resource...
متن کاملA Siphon-based Deadlock Prevention Policy for a Class of Petri Nets - SPMR
This paper focuses on the problem of deadlocks in automated flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) where deadlocks are caused by unmarked siphons in their Petri net models. A deadlock prevention policy is proposed for a subclass of Petri nets, SPMR that can well model a large class of FMS. We distinguish siphons in such a net model by elementary and dependent ones. For each elementary siphon, a m...
